Y486AP Network Configuration Guide via WPS Mode

Prerequisites

  • Ensure your router is powered on and supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup).

  • Verify the WPS feature is enabled on your router (refer to your router’s manual if unsure).

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Power On the Printer

    • Connect the printer to a power source and turn it on.

  2. Activate WPS Mode on Your Router

    • Locate the WPS button on your router (may also be labeled "Quick Setup").

    • Briefly press the WPS button. The router’s indicator light will flash rapidly, indicating WPS mode is active.

      • Note: Some routers may require holding the button for 1–2 seconds. Check your router’s manual for specifics.

  3. Enable WPS Pairing on the Printer

    • Press and hold the Status Light button on the printer.

    • Release the button after hearing four consecutive beeps. This activates WPS pairing mode.

  4. Connect to the Network

    • The printer will automatically search for the router’s WPS signal.

    • The green status light on the printer will flash during the connection process.

  5. Confirm Successful Connection

    • Once connected, the status light will turn to a steady blue.

  6. Begin Printing

    • After the status light stabilizes, the printer is ready for wireless printing.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If the connection fails (e.g., status light remains flashing or turns red):

    • Restart the printer and router.

    • Ensure the router’s WPS mode is active within 2 minutes of initiating printer pairing.

    • Verify no other devices are attempting WPS connections simultaneously.

  • For non-WPS-compatible routers, use alternate setup methods (e.g., manual Wi-Fi configuration).
